A message from Director of Campus Recreation Chris Mercurio
I would like to welcome and invite the entire campus community to participate in American International College’s Intramural Program. The intramural sports and recreation programming provides an opportunity for all students to enjoy satisfying experiences according to their particular needs, which may vary from highly competitive to recreational. Students can also participate in extramurals, where championship teams compete in regional tournaments agianst other colleges as part of the National Campus Championship Series.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that the AIC Intramurals are designed for you, the students. We are constantly striving to serve you better and in the most encompassing way possible. Please contribute to, participate in, and take advantage of our offerings. Help us to help you. That’s what the intramural program is all about, a program for the students developed by the students.
The programs objectives are:
1. To provide participants with an enjoyable leisure experience.
2. To develop skills necessary for participation in sports, which will produce alert minds, coordinated with keen physical reactions.
3. To provide an outlet from the pressures and tensions sometimes associated with college life
4. To give students an opportunity to attain personal attention and satisfaction through individual and group activities.
5. To encourage the promotion of values such as sportsmanship, fair play, participation and an atmosphere that gives equal opportunity to all.
6. To develop physical fitness, strength, endurance, power, agility, and flexibility.
7. To provide students with the opportunity to use their creativity to help better the program. 8. To develop transferable leadership qualities that can be used upon graduation.
The Intramural philosophy is based on the concept that all students should be given equal opportunity, freedom of choice, responsibility for sharing in planning and administering of the program.
